Student’s Good Work> Anthology of English essays - Newspaper reflection: Happiness Index of Hong Kong Children Chan Tsz Yi 2D
The children’s happiness index survey shows that Hong Kong children are less happy than they were a year ago.
The survey polled students from primary and secondary schools. The happiness level declined noticeably in 2015, the latest index. Heightened pressure from studies was a reason. Pressures arising from extracurricular activities did not show marked changes. But on the whole, Hong Kong children are still considered happy.
The survey found that Primary Four students spent the most time doing their homework. Also children who sleep for less than nine hours are the least happy.
I think teachers can give less homework to students, so that they can sleep more and be happier. Students can also relax while doing homework by listening to music or taking breaks of about 10 minutes before they continue with their work. Anyway I hope Hong Kong children don’t give too much pressure to themselves.
